It was fall and these kiddos did an excellent job frolicking in the leaves, don't you think? Their graphic designer mom (she does work for Hammertown, the amazing furniture store in Rhinebeck and Pine Plains) is currently hard at work at their holiday card. I can't wait to see it!

Here's a favorite from a mini-session back in November. I'm not going to post their pick for holiday card since they haven't yet sent it out, but I adore this one, in a non-traditional kind of way. They kind of look like they're in a Gap ad, no?

{12 Days of Holiday Sessions: Day 1}

When I was on staff at magazines, my worst nightmare was writing headlines. I was terrible at it. A 2,000 word article? No problem. But 3 snappy words? I was paralyzed. Sadly, my inability to write a decent headline is part of what’s made me neglect this blog. (That and the hours of photo editing I’m up against.) I feel all sorts of pressure to write a snappy header and…well…I’ve got nothin’. So I’ve come up with an easy solution. 12 Days of Holiday Card Sessions. That means 12 days that I don’t have to think of any thing witty or sweet or treacle or (heaven forbid) boring. Of course, one could argue that 12 Days is boring; if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.

And, for Day 1, I present the A Team. I adored photographing these two kiddos, who came wearing their grins. They were goofy and sweet and I could have photographed them all day! And their mom just sent me their ultra-cool xmas card, which she got from Minted.) I love seeing photos in action. Thanks for the card!

{Sneak Peak: Ladies G and E}

To be in the presence of newborn twins is a gift. Seriously. I don't mean to get all weepy, but these two little girls were amazing, like an entire spectrum of emotions playing out at once. And mom likes interesting prints and patterns just as much as I do; we had a blast. So while I'm supposed to be editing holiday card photos, I really wanted to throw a few of these up to share. Look how sweet!

{On the Farm}

Glynwood is one of the best things about living in Cold Spring. It’s almost a bucolic cliché—the big red barn, roaming horses, heritage hens that lay blue eggs with the yellowiest yolks I’ve ever seen. This family lives on the farm: Dad farms the CSA acreage, Mom hosts play dates showing off baby farm animals and makes a mean quiche with Glynwood produce. I had a blast photographing them for their holiday card.

I've been terrible about blogging lately, largely because I've been super busy editing photos from my recent mini sessions (above is one of my favorites). And I'm about to get busier. The folks at one of my favorite furniture stores, Hammertown, have asked me to do another day of mini-photo sessions at their store in Pine Plains on November 22nd. Go to their website for details!

{Wanted: One Good Wall}

New Orleans has amazing walls—gritty, mossy, crumbling walls. I wish I could transport this particular one, which sits right across from Commander’s Palace, to my backyard for my mini-photo sessions this Sunday. Something to think about for next year. ☺

Oh, and that cutie in front of the wall is Sammy, my younger-than-she-looks cousin.

I'm supposed to be packing for my Greek Gal Getaway, which I'm super excited to blog about later, but I was so excited about the newborn session I had today, I couldn't help but post a few. Miss M was wide awake and alert and roaring to go, just like her mama. (Those sleeping photos? A 30-second fluke.) More to come...
