My nephew's in for a visit, which means one thing: Photo Shoot! (That and swimming and visiting baby chickens at the farm and catching up on kisses.) It was a rainy day, so we shot in my make-shift studio; I like the clean look, don't you? Between me and his Nikon D90-owning mom, this brown-eyed boy is going to be one oft-photographed child. Okay, enough with the dashes, take a look:

my newborn nephew
Remember my sister's maternity photo? (You can see it here.) Well, here's the result! Cole: My brand-new nephew, who ain't so newborn anymore (he's now 2 months old). I've been busy, but I wanted to post these in time for my sister's very first Mother's Day as a mom. I had an amazing visit with her in LA back in March, where I got to see what a relaxed, loving mama she is. And since she and her husband are such surfing buffs, we decided to take little Cole on his first visit to the beach. Here are just a handful of the results. Enjoy the newborn mushiness and Happy Mom's Day! (And for more mushiness, check out the baby animals in post below this one.)

{Bright Eyes}
How can you not be taken in my these eyes? C was so fun to play with, er, photograph. He showed off his back yard, alley way, school projects. And he was super gentle with his new baby brother. Here are a few of my favorites from that day...

{12 Days of Holiday Sessions: Day 4}
I just adore the pompoms on these hats, don't you? Though the twins didn't seem to notice... More great photos from this session to post, but I wanted to make sure to live up to my one-post-a-day promise to myself.

{Sneak Peak: Ladies G and E}
To be in the presence of newborn twins is a gift. Seriously. I don't mean to get all weepy, but these two little girls were amazing, like an entire spectrum of emotions playing out at once. And mom likes interesting prints and patterns just as much as I do; we had a blast. So while I'm supposed to be editing holiday card photos, I really wanted to throw a few of these up to share. Look how sweet!

{Mini Photo Sessions!}
I've been terrible about blogging lately, largely because I've been super busy editing photos from my recent mini sessions (above is one of my favorites). And I'm about to get busier. The folks at one of my favorite furniture stores, Hammertown, have asked me to do another day of mini-photo sessions at their store in Pine Plains on November 22nd. Go to their website for details!

{Sneak Peak: Miss M}
I'm supposed to be packing for my Greek Gal Getaway, which I'm super excited to blog about later, but I was so excited about the newborn session I had today, I couldn't help but post a few. Miss M was wide awake and alert and roaring to go, just like her mama. (Those sleeping photos? A 30-second fluke.) More to come...

{I Heart Brooklyn}

I was in Brooklyn recently visiting with my good friend Elissa. She's an amazing graphic designer and promised to design promo cards for me in exchange for photographing her kids. Easy, right? Well her 3 year old is one of the hardest kids I've ever photographed. He hates the camera and doesn't stay still for even a nanosecond. But he does love ice cream. (The new-to-me Blue Marble in Prospect Heights is delish.) And he loves fountains. And running. And his parents. So I had some great moments to work with. He and my 3 year old twerp had their first sleepover, which went brilliantly. (They were so tired from the ice cream and fountains and running that they passed out cold and didn't move until morning.) And our two little ones pawed at each other and cooed. It was a fantastic weekend. Can't wait to do it all over again!
And this is one of my favorite photos, it shows the juggling and monkeying it takes to parent two kiddos!

{Polkadots and Stripes}

PW is supposedly a newborn. His mom tells me he's only 9 days old. But he was determined to stay awake for our entire session. His arms wiggled, his feet wiggled. I have lots of blurry limbed photos. Still, the shoot was super fun. PW's mom is big into quilting and knitting, so we got to model some awesome graphic fabrics, like these stripes from Heather Ross, which coordinates with that awesome diaper cover. And we put him in a puddle of hand dyed yarn. (PW thought this was a terrible idea and wanted to nap in his crib instead. I did manage to get this one shot before the crying kicked in.) Lots more photos to come.

{Happy Birthday B!}

A, my 10 month old has 1 friend (ah, the life of a second child), and that's little B, who just turned 1. His mom put on a wonderfully intimate party with music class buddies, older siblings, and, my favorite, sweet potato cupcakes. A was passed around while I took photos.
That's A, ready for a nap.
